Born in 1962,Georges Politakis holds a law degree from Athens University (Greece), an LLM from the London School of Economics and Political Science (United Kingdom) and a PhD from the University of Geneva’s Graduate Institute of International Studies (Switzerland). He was a research assistant at the Graduate Institute of International Studies (1991–93) and lecturer at the Law Faculty of the University of Geneva (1993–96).

Evangelos TSOUROULIS, B.A., LL.B.

Evangelos Tsouroulis is Attorney-at-Law admitted for practice before the Greek Supreme Court, ex-President CCBE (Council of Bars & Law Societies of Europe), ex-Vice President of the Piraeus Bar Association, Chairman of Disciplinary Board B’ of Piraeus Bar, Member of Hellenic Maritime Law Association, Hellenic Society of Maritime Lawyers, Mediterranean Maritime Arbitration Association and Supporting Member of LMAA (London Maritime Arbitrators Association), ex-Head of Hellenic Delegation to the CCBE and currently member of CCBE Committees for the Future of the Legal Profession and Legal Services and European Lawyers Foundation.

Frederick J. KENNEY, Jr.

Frederick Kenney currently serves as the Director of Legal and External Affairs at the International Maritime Organization, London. In this capacity, he is responsible for advising the Secretary-General on all legal issues associated with the functioning of the Organization, with special emphasis on matters of Treaty Law and the Law of the Sea. Prior to coming to IMO, he served as The Judge Advocate General and Chief Counsel of the United States Coast Guard, attaining the rank of Rear Admiral. He also served as a Coast Guard judge advocate for 22 years of a thirty-three year military career, including service as the Coast Guard’s Chief of Maritime and International Law and a secondment to the US Department of State in the Office of Oceans Affairs and as a judge on the Coast Guard Court of Criminal Appeals.

Francesco MUNARI

He graduated at the University of Genoa in 1986 and completed his doctorate in International Law (State University of Milan) in 1991. In 1990 he was visiting scholar at the Yale University. In 1992-1993 he was visiting professor at the University of Hamburg. He was visiting research fellow at the Max-Planck-Institut of Hamburg and at the European parliament. From 1993 until 1995 he taught international maritime law at the University of Pescara-Chieti.
